About Our Mental Health Work
Mental health is community health. TODCDC's Mental Health Division works to reduce the stigma surrounding mental illness, raise awareness about available resources, and provide suicide prevention education across Shreveport. We believe that a community cannot truly thrive unless its members have access to the mental and emotional support they need.
Awareness Campaigns
Community-wide education initiatives that normalize conversations about mental health and reduce the stigma that prevents people from seeking help.
Suicide Prevention
Training, resources, and outreach programs focused on suicide prevention, crisis intervention, and connecting at-risk individuals with professional support.
Wellness Events
Community wellness fairs and workshops that provide mental health screenings, education, and connections to local counseling and therapy resources.
Support Networks
Facilitating peer support groups and community connections that reduce isolation and build resilience among Shreveport residents.
